Early penalty enough for Albion
Scott Chaplain scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot to clinch a 1-0 win and keep Albion in the play-off picture and extend Montrose's winless run to five games.
It took Albion just five minutes to ease the memory of last weekend's defeat at Annan, Chaplain making no mistake with his spot-kick after Alan Campbell handled in the area.
Graham Webster hit a right-footed shot over the bar as Montrose tried to rally but the hosts finished the first half on top and went close to doubling their lead through Ryan Donnelly and Ciaran Donnelly.
Albion spurned more chances after half-time but those misses did not prove costly as fifth-placed Rovers made it five home league wins in a row.
