Albion 1-0 Stenhousemuir- Match Report

Albion survive late scare

Bottom side Albion recorded a vital 1-0 win over play-off hopefuls Stenhousemuir, who missed an injury-time penalty.

Chances were at a premium in the first half as neither side managed to fashion any threatening attempts on goal.

Stewart Kean came closest for the visitors in the opening minutes but was denied by a fine save from Derek Gaston.

It was Alistair Brown's turn to impress next as he foiled Jack Werndly with an excellent stop.

But the deadlock was finally broken seven minutes from time when Werndly produced a fine strike from the edge of the box.

The Warriors missed a golden chance to equalise in the final minute, Eric Paton's penalty brilliantly saved by Gaston after the keeper fouled Andy Rodgers.

Victory means Paul Martin's side are now a point adrift of safety whilst Stenhousemuir remain in the play-off places.
