Stranraer`s hopes of claiming the final play-off place in Division Three suffered a serious blow after they lost 1-0 at second-placed Albion.

The visitors have now failed to win their last seven away games and need Queen`s Park to lose on the final day to sneak into the top four.

They started the brighter of the two teams, striker Michael Moore threatening twice with close-range headers around the 20-minute mark. His first effort failed to find the target, but his second was well saved by Albion goalkeeper Derek Gaston.

Stranraer again went close minutes later, but substitute Daniel Mitchell fired over from inside the box.

Home side Albion made an impressive start to the second-half and broke the deadlock after 58 minutes, striker Scott Chaplain expertly firing home from inside the box for his eighth goal of the season.

The visitors tried to rally but failed to create many clear-cut chances. Substitute Armand One went closest, but his tame header was saved by Gaston.
