A second-half double from Frank Carroll put Queens on their way to a convincing 4-0 win over Albion at Cliftonhill.

The defeat for Albion was their first under new manager Jimmy Lindsay.

Queens created the best of the chances almost immediately when a Carroll turn beat two Rovers defenders but the shot flew just over.

The Spiders came close again on 12 minutes when a Mark Ferry produced an excellent save from Chris Fahey in the Albion goal following a Daniel Ferry cross.

The Rovers keeper was called upon a minute later when a Tony Quinn shot rebounded off the bar leaving the keeper stranded, but he somehow managed to scramble back and clear a Sean McInulty effort off the line.

Queens keeper David Crawford was not to be outdone as he produced a fine save following a Lee Wilson shot, then again just before half-time he turned a John Bradford header round the post.

Early in the second half Bradford again almost gave Rovers the lead, but Crawford produced another excellent save to keep Queens in the match.

Rovers had kept Queens playmaker Paul Harvey fairly quiet during the first half as Kerr Potter was appointed the man-marking role, however in the second half Rovers went more attacking with Wayne Gordon and Marc McKenzie sent on to bolster their attack.

This backfired on Albion as Harvey caused them havoc for their rest of the half and set up Queens' opener on 56 minutes when he laid off the ball to Mark Ferry who fired an unstoppable shot into the back of the net.

Harvey again created the second as his pin point cross set up Carroll who flicked the ball over Fahey in the Rovers goal.

Carroll then added a third two minutes later when he tapped the ball home from close range to put the game beyond doubt.

Harvey then capped an excellent performance with what was the goal of the game as he chipped Fahey from what looked an almost impossible angle.
