Albion Rovers got there season back on track, mainly thanks to a late double strike by substitute Paul McManus.

The game started at a frantic pace with Rovers keen to impress after last week's defeat at Gretna.

Rovers had the better of the chances in the first half, with John Bradford being foiled on two occasions by John Dodds on the East Fife goal.

The only chance for the visitors fell to Brian Fairbairn, who headed just past the post when it seemed easier to score.

The early stages of the second half were a rather dull affair as both sides seemed to be feeling the heat. However an injection of fresh legs changed things.

East Fife had the first chance to take the lead as a Fairbairn free-kick from the right was latched on to by Greig McDonald, whose shot was superbly turned over the bar by Mark Peat.

This coaxed the game into life, as an impressive Marc McKenzie ball played substitute McManus through on goal and he unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner.

Then, two minutes later, the striker rounded off a superb double as turned the ball into the net from close range after Dodds had spilled a Jamie McGowan free-kick.
