Sons extend unbeaten run

Dumbarton kept up their unbeaten start to the year with a competent 1-0 victory over second-bottom Albion Rovers.

Bryan Prunty registered his 11th goal of the season to keep Dumbarton firmly in the play-offs and stretch their unbeaten league run to a sixth game.

Patrick Walker went close with a header after five minutes but it was relegation-threatened Albion who came closest to scoring before the break.

Ten minutes before half-time an Anthony Stevenson corner caused panic in the Sons' box, and Jordan Halsman had an effort parried by Stephen Grindlay before Daniel McKay's follow-up was blocked by Alan Lithgow.

The deadlock was broken 19 minutes into the second half as Prunty collected a Scott Agnew pass from the left and finished from 12 yards.

Agnew, played in by Prunty, almost put Dumbarton further ahead but Chris Fahey tipped his shot around the post.
