A controversial Steve Reilly penalty sealed all three points for Queens to make it five wins in the last six matches.

Rovers went close to breaking the deadlock after 18 minutes when the Queens defence failed to clear the ball. The ball broke to Scott Chaplain 8 yards out but the midfielder's goal bound effort was blocked by Spiders' skipper Steve Reilly.

Queens were limited to long range effort in the opening 35 minutes with Mark Ferry firing wide from outside the area on two occasions. But Ferry went even closer to breaking the deadlock just before the break when he sent an effort crashing off the crossbar. Rovers' Gordon Lennon was caught upfield, giving Ferry acres of space to run into. The midfielder strode forward before unleashing a powerful shot that came back off the woodwork with Jamie Ewings beaten.

Minutes later, Ewings almost gifted Queens a goal when he failed to claim a cross. The ball broke to Stuart Kettlewell 12 yards out but his effort was blocked on the line by Peter Watson.

Following a fine start to the second half, Queens deservedly broke the deadlock after 56 minutes. David Weatherston broke free down the left and sent the ball across to Trouten who fired home from close range.

But Rovers were level within sixty seconds. Brain Smith crossed from the left and
Scott Chaplian headed home from six yards.

Queens then almost retook the lead ninety second later. Tony Quinn rose at the back post to head home from eight yards but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Queens eventually netted the winner in controversial circumstances. David Weatherston tumbled inside the box and ref Steve Nicholls pointed to the spot despite there appearing to be no contact with Jamie Ewings. Steve Reilly converted from the spot to secure all three points.
